One of the fundamental problems of people from poor and underprivileged backgrounds is the lack of access to banking facilities. Most often, a lack of required paperwork, knowledge of how to fill forms and a general intimidation of the banking process prevent these families from opening bank accounts and saving regularly. In recognition of this, Prem Dan organized a camp for the mothers of children in our program.
A team From UCO Bank along with the Chief Manager Mr. Surendra Nath Sahu came to Garden School to speak to the mothers of the children who are studying with us about the necessity of saving money and depositing the same even if the amount is small into the saving account.
Several of the mothers in attendance availed of the opportunity and opened up savings bank accounts.
